[UPDATE] Water pipeline work on schedule

Work on connecting the B19 and B11 pipelines is going according to plan and the water supply to the town has not yet been affected. The work may be finished earlier than expected.

Rand Water reported on Tuesday, 25 June, that work on connecting the B19 and B11 pipelines, which will increase the raw water supply to, among others, Krugersdorp, Roodepoort and surrounding areas, is going according to schedule.

“The technical teams worked throughout the night and achieved the set project milestones. The work is on target,” Justice Mohale, Media Relations Manager for Rand Water said, adding that “The Rand Water network is operational and stable and all reservoirs are meeting demand.”

Community fears that the water supply on the West Rand would be shut down for three days seem to have dissipated as no shutdown or restrictions have occurred during this period.

“We have received no reports from our municipal customers of interruptions to the service due to the work being done,” Mohale noted.

In a press release, Rand Water reiterated that its reservoir levels are stable and capable of a continuous supply of water to all residents.
