Massive accident at Paardekraal intersection claims many victims

Four people lost their lives and another 17 were injured in Luipaardsvlei yesterday evening, 10 July.

According to a statement from Netcare 911’s media liaison, Shawn Herbst, they were called to the corner of Windsor and Paardekraal Roads at about 6.15pm.

“Reports from the scene indicated that four vehicles were involved in the collision,” said the statement from Hebrst.

It is believed that one of the vehicles was a minibus taxi that had rolled.

After assessing the scene, responding paramedics found that four people had fatal injuries and they were declared dead on the scene.

“Another 17 patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious,” said the statement.

Some of the victims required advanced life support to stabilise them.

All the victims were treated and taken to hospitals by various ambulance services after being stabilised.
