Mogale City’s Executive Mayor, Naga Patrick Lipudi, encouraged youngsters to be job creators as opposed to being job seekers while addressing the group of young folk at an ongoing business course.
The assembly, which was held at Chief Mogale Community Hall in Kagiso, was put together by the reigning 2018/ 19 Miss Kagiso, Mami Makokoe, and was hosted in partnership with Mogale City and Standard Bank.
Lipudi said the country is slowly observing the implementation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and young people need to be up to date with the evolving economic situation in the country and across the globe.
“We are faced with a huge challenge where the world is now turning towards implementation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the key question is whether we are sufficiently ready for this advancement. Young people need the relevant tools to equip themselves for that and government needs to assist the youth in realising that need,” said Lipudi.
“We are losing jobs on daily basis and young people must be ready to adapt to this changing environment. This seminar is thus very relevant to the youth so that they are able to learn and with support be able to create a legacy for themselves.”
He informed the gathering that the city is sending 150 youngsters to a three-day Youth Summit to create a plan of issues that the youth need the municipality to concentrate on in setting their future.
Makokoe was highly appreciative of the municipality’s support and the presence of the Executive Mayor who always makes time to look into issues and opportunities that will take communities forward.
