The statement read that they condemn the actions of the 27-year-old female driver.
Preliminary information shows the incident happened in Krugersdorp on 13 September.
The Gauteng traffic officer was issuing the driver with a fine after she was caught using her cell phone while driving.

The woman however decided to drive off and the officer tried to stop her.
In the video the female officer can be seen holding onto the bonnet while demanding the woman stop.
After the woman was pulled over she was arrested for failing to comply with the traffic officer’s instruction, reckless driving and resisting arrest.
In the end she also did get the fine for using her cell phone while driving.

“The conduct displayed by the driver is not only reckless but also smacks of arrogance. With the province experiencing a high number of unnecessary crashes and fatalities on our roads, it is of utmost importance that our law enforcement agencies should stamp their authority on those who disregard the rules of the road.
“Drivers are supposed to conduct themselves in a manner that is acceptable and respect authorities. The conduct of the driver in question is punishable at all costs and will never be allowed. Irrespective of the attitude of road users, we will continue to stamp our authority and do our work without fear and favour,’’ departmental spokesperson, Ofentse Morwane said.
