One group claimed that as they were walking along Kromdraai Road, the zama zamas started shooting at them and they returned fire.
The zama zamas then fled the scene.
According to the statement one person who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm of which the serial number had been filed off, was wounded in his lower body. He was arrested and taken to Leratong Hospital where he is under police guard.
While continuing their investigations, the police received another complaint from the same scene.
Two men, aged 25 and 45, were found with fatal gunshot wounds and four others with injuries. Two of the men had gunshot wounds but the other two had been hit with a hammer. The four were taken to hospital for treatment.
“It was later found that the first suspect was part of a rival group from either Soweto or Munsieville,” said Sebonyane.
He added that the Krugersdorp Police are investigating the case and that the suspect will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
