The family of a man who was stabbed to death, say they want justice for the man who 'laughed with everyone'.

The family of the 58-year-old Joseph Maswabi wants justice for his murder and do not want his case to be just another murder case, and maybe become forgotten.

On the morning of 12 November, family members entered Joseph’s modest home in Swanieville to find him lying on the kitchen floor in a puddle of blood.

As far as they knew, Joseph who worked as a gardener in Roodepoort, was at work on Monday. He went home, and allegedly his wife was there for a while. However, they believe he was alone at home on Monday evening.

A women who lives on the same property said that on Monday evening she heard an argument and something falling on the floor.

After the police had finished their initial investigation the family started cleaning the house. They claimed they had found a pair of bloodied takkies, wrapped in a T-shirt, at the bottom of a laundry basket in Joseph’s house, which they handed over to the police.

According to the family two women were subsequently arrested in connection with the murder. The News requested confirmation from the Kagiso Police, who are yet to respond.

The family was bothered by the fact that they did not know he was married. As far as they could figure out, Joseph and his wife got married six months ago. Rumours were doing the rounds that the woman only married Joseph to get her hands on his house, and that she had a boyfriend who knew about Joseph and the woman’s plan to get his house.

“He was a very bubbly person who used to laugh with everyone.”

Joseph is survived by his two children, his mother and many family members.

The family informed the News that one of the suspects linked to his murder was due to appear in court on Friday, 22 November.
