Krugersdorp applauds health workers
The News hit the streets where locals expressed their gratitude to all healthcare workers on the frontline of the pandemic.
The News has spoken to members of the community who expressed their gratitude to all doctors, nurses and caregivers who are putting their lives at risk during the current pandemic.
This is what they had to say:
“Thank you to our frontline workers for your unparalleled service. If ever superheroes existed you guys are IT! On behalf of South Africa, thank you for your dedication, love, care, attention and passion. Your calling and our privilege!” Stephen R Trent, a fellow N14 Rebel said.

Kim Snyders quoted Dr Seuss saying, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

Members of the group who use the N14 every day said, “The N14 Rebels salute all the emergency workers out there and thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for being Angels without wings, looking out for us, doing what you do selflessly without a second thought”.

“Thank you to all our wonderful frontline workers who continue to work tirelessly to keep us safe on ‘our road’,” Lizzie Pitcher said.

“Thank you to our frontline and essential workers. I want to take a moment to thank all of the dedicated frontline and essential workers that are keeping our communities safe and functioning. We see you and we appreciate your unselfish acts of humanity, warmth and compassion to save us and to keep us safe. In the words of Martin Luther King: ‘Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope’,” Minouise van der Merwe said.

Lydia Maene quoted Nanea Hoffman saying, “If today gets difficult, remember the smell of coffee, the way sunlight bounces off a window, the sound of your favourite person’s laugh, the feeling when a song you love comes on, the colour of the sky at dusk and that we are here to take care of each other.”
“To our superheroes, the frontline workers, a very very big thank you. You put your lives at risk every day to protect ours,” Tanya Cummins said.

“Vandag wil ek aan elke frontline worker in hierdie onsekere tye baie dankie sê. Dankie vir alles wat julle doen deur hierdie tyd, dankie dat julle die rol inneem van familie vir die pasiënte. Dat julle daar is, nie net met mediese ondersteuning maar ook emosionele ondersteuning. Julle sit julself op die lyn om julle calling te vervul. Dankie – ek bid dat die Here julle sal seën en krag gee, en veilig hou in hierdie tyd,” Nadine van Staden said.
