Fore! Golfers support Fora with a round of golf

Fora is planning a big move sometime during this year and is currently searching for the perfect space to house their furry friends. To help raise funds, Fora and the Krugersdorp Golf Club hosted a golf day.

The grass is greener on the golf course, and who wouldn’t want to spend a sunny day on the fairway?

After the past couple of months with back-to-work and lockdown worries plaguing us all, a day on the pristine grass of the Krugersdorp Golf Club (KGC) was just what the doctor ordered for many on Friday, 12 February.

Taking a mid-day break from the office or workshops, a group of Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) supporters made their way to the golf club for a four-ball shotgun start match.

Fora is planning a big move sometime during this year and is currently searching for the perfect space to house their furry friends. This golf day, hosted by Fora and KGC was aimed at collecting funds for this very purpose.

Megan van Heerden from KGC who volunteers at Fora said 96 players registered for the day, each paying R1 600 for a round of golf to provide much-needed help to the organisation.

Supporters also donated various amounts of money and prizes for the event, with one sponsoring a few four-balls at one of the Sun City golf courses, others donating biltong baskets, hunting knife sets and plenty of alcohol – which most looked forward to now that the alcohol ban has finally been lifted.

Fora’s Candis van Gylswyk added that if anyone from the public would wish to donate, anything would be appreciated. Pet food, beds, toys and such can be delivered to the current Fora premises. For monetary donations, please visit FORA Animal Shelter Facebook page for more information.
