Rand Water has announced that it will execute a necessary shutdown of the supply of water to a large number of areas in Johannesburg and a few in Krugersdorp to replace faulty valves on a cross-connection to its G23 and Q2 pipelines.
The 30-hour shutdown is scheduled to commence at 1pm on Saturday, 27 February until 7pm on Sunday, 28 February.
The following meters will be affected during the Shutdown:
- Commando Road
- Whiteridge North
- Watervaldal
- Corrie moor
- Cornelius Street
- Weltevreden high pressure
- Weltevreden high pressure bypass
- Honeydew No.1
The following areas will be affected:
- Hursthill
- Maraisburg
- Northcliff
- Cresta
- Honeydew
- Weltevreden Park
- JG Strijdom
- Watervaldal
- Cornelius
The following Reservoirs will be affected:
- Waterval No.2
- Roodepoort
- Weltevreden
- Krugersdorp No.4
Rand Water further stated that it will ensure that all the affected reservoirs are filled before the Shutdown commences.
“We will open our Q2 and G20 as well as its Q2 and G24 pipeline cross-connections to supply the Q2 pipeline upstream. The Q2 pipeline will also be supplied from Q1 and Q4 pipelines upstream. Supply, however, may be interrupted, as the Eikenhof Pump Station will not pump into the Q2 for the duration of the Shutdown,” Rand Water concluded.
