Pharmacists who care donate 300 blankets to Cradle of Hope

Dis-Chem in President Square recently donated 300 blankets to the Cradle of Hope to help with their outreach projects.

While winter is starting to nip at our toes and ears, Dis-Chem has been proactive and donated 300 blankets to the Cradle of Hope.

Roger Brown from Dis-Chem in President Square explained that the Dis-Chem Foundation helps many different organisations, and for many years now Dis-Chem has been donating blankets to the Cradle of Hope.

The 300 blankets have been bought with funds raised by the Dis-Chem Foundation, which has already donated more than 5 000 blankets in Gauteng.

Cathie Coetzee from the Cradle of Hope was there to receive the donation. She explained that the Cradle of Hope is a organisation for abused women and children, but they also feed the homeless every day.

She said they feed 250 people a day who do not have blankets, so this donation will come in handy.

“These blankets are welcome especially in a time of great need,” she said.

This year the Cradle of Hope will not distribute the blankets like they used to in the past. Instead they will incorporate them into their Find A Need and Fill It campaign. This means the blankets will be distributed with the weekly food parcels they hand out to the people and families they reach out to.
