Kingswood Academy opening their hearts to Munsieville

The Kingswood Academy in Krugersdorp again opened their hearts to the children of Munsieville and Thoughtful Path.

The Kingswood Academy in Krugersdorp again opened their hearts to the children of Munsieville and the Thoughtful Path.

Every year this school runs a charity campaign where the children, parents and staff donate tinned food, clothes and other goods. The school’s charity committee then nominates an organisation and the donated items are given to that organisation.

In 2019 they donated to a women and children’s shelter in Toekomsrus, and in 2020 and 2021 they decided to assist the Thoughtful Path project in Munsieville. Along with the delivery of the donations the school’s entertainment team also hosted a fun day with the kids in the community.

This year the kids were treated to a show by the school’s drum majorettes, and there were music and dancing before hot dogs, party packs and the donations were handed out.

According to the school’s vision and mission, giving back to the communities where their students come from is sacrosanct,” explained Evidence Mokoena, the school’s customer relations official.

She added that this is a very important value to teach children early on in life.

This is taught in three steps – firstly by instilling the culture of charity, it is the right thing to do. Secondly, evidence says that charitable acts help to teach the children the importance of looking out for each other; and thirdly it promotes a positive behavioural knock-on effect.

“Learners indirectly desist from becoming bullies towards each other but instead start to look out for each other kindly.”
