Police, CPF, Kagiso Victim Empowerment, Universal Church, department of social development, the Mogale City Fire department and more attended the commemoration of the closing of the 16 Days of activism.
Bringing their 16 Days of Activism against abuse campaign to a close, the Kagiso Police wanted to end it on a high note.
They, the local Community Policing Forum, Kagiso Victim Empowerment, Universal Church, Department of Social Development, Mogale City Fire department, Gauteng Department of Community Safety, Gender-based Violence Brigade, community safety patrollers and Women in Church attended the commemoration of the closing of the 16 Days of Activism.

The event was held at the Universal Church at 09:00 on December 10 and started with a prayer, followed by a sermon.
“Speakers representing different stakeholders shared the stage, strongly condemning the gross violation of women. They also advised women to speak out and not allow abusive partners to turn their bodies into crime scenes,” said captain Solomon Sibiya from the Kagiso Police.

This was followed by a march through the streets of Kagiso and all the participants chanted slogans and demonstrated.
“They sang in one massive voice against the abuse and killing of women and children. The events’ truck and police vehicles led the marchers in a convoy. They proceeded to the Kagiso Mall to get their messages further across.”

Along the way shoppers and pedestrians joined the march and the day was concluded at the Kagiso Police station where Sibiya thanked everyone for their efforts on behalf of Kagiso Police station commander Brigadier Themba Maduna.
