My son was pulled over at about 11:47 on Saturday January 29 shortly after going through a roadblock on the N14 – Krugersdorp, direction Pretoria.
He was forced to pull off the road by a plain white Polo Vivo. There were three men, two with semi-automatic firearms. They started asking him questions like where he was going and what did his father do for a living.
They were in full Metro Police uniform. He was then accused of travelling at 163km/h! Unfortunately for these guys the car has a highly sophisticated tracking device which clearly shows the speed of the car at the time.
They told him to phone his father so he could sort out the problem, otherwise they would arrest him.
A Mr Mashego – or so he said his name was – called me and told me to e-wallet R3 000 otherwise they were going to arrest my son. I said I would give them the money but needed to get it together first. Thankfully they let him go. They now have all my details.
They gave me a number* to transfer the money to, and when I didn’t pay immediately, I got another call from a different number*.
This sort of behaviour by Metro Police members is totally unacceptable and needs to be dealt with asap. I am happy to provide any further evidence if need be.
None of the three officers wore name badges so we have no idea who they were. Hopefully the Metro vehicles also have tracking devices.
This is unacceptable and shocking behaviour!
