School visited by stakeholders after ‘strangling incident’

'The visit came after one learner allegedly had strangled another learner while they were playing on Thursday February 10' – Krugersdorp Police.

Police along with representatives of the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) and Women Against Women Abuse (WAWA) visited Munsieville Primary School last Friday following an alleged strangling incident between two learners the day before.

According to Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane, 237 Grade 6 and 7 learners were addressed about bullying, fighting and stealing.

The visit came after one learner allegedly had strangled another learner while they were playing on Thursday February 10. The learners were also told to refrain from posting anything on social media that might cause any harm to the reputation of fellow learners or the school,” Captain Sebonyane said.

The learners were encouraged to report any criminal activities to Krugersdorp Police on 011 951 1151 or to contact the Crime Stop line on 08600 10111 immediately. Alternatively information may be communicated via the My SAPS app or SMS number 32211 and remain anonymous.

The school principal, Judith Mkhize thanked the teams for their quick response after being asked to intervene and address the learners.
