Motorcyclist dies on arrival at hospital following accident on Voortrekker Road
A motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, died on arrival at hospital after an early-morning accident in Kenmare.
A man who was critically injured in a motorcycle accident on Voortrekker Road during the early hours of Saturday morning, February 19 died on arrival at a hospital.
Various emergency medical services responded to the accident just before Terenure Road at a service station in Kenmare. The exact cause of the accident is unknown at this stage.
ComMed Emergency Response reportedly was the first emergency medical service on scene. One of its directors, Nathaniel Block told the News the accident occurred shortly after 01:00. He said the biker was a man in his 30s.
Abigail Scott of Emergency Control SA said, “The motorcyclist was coming from the north on the side street in Kenmare towards Voortekker Road and hit the road barrier.”

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring added they arrived on scene to find other emergency services attending to the patient.
Medics found that the patient was in a critical condition with rapidly diminishing vital signs. He was treated and provided with several advanced life support interventions before he was loaded into the ambulance and transported to Leratong Hospital for urgent treatment.
“On route to hospital, the patient’s vital signs diminished several times. Paramedics had to initiate CPR and advanced life support in an effort to revive him. On arrival at Leratong Hospital, the patient’s vital signs diminished once again. ER24 and hospital staff initiated CPR and advanced life support once again. Unfortunately, after some time, the patient succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.”
