Police share important safety tips with learners

Krugersdorp Police and many other response groups visited Monument Primary recently to teach them about general safety.

The Krugersdorp Police, along with various other interest groups paid a visit to Monument Primary School on Thursday, March 10 to bring a very important message to the learners on the sports field.

Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane said, “The purpose of the event was to inform the learners about their safety in and around the school premises, and to know the law-enforcement services.

“The learners were encouraged to report any criminal activities immediately by calling Krugersdorp Police on 011 951 1151, Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or SMS number 32211; alternatively communicate via the My SAPS app which can be downloaded from any smartphone and remain anonymous.

All the stakeholders were afforded an opportunity to showcase the services they are rendering to the community. Matla A Bana’s Lizel van Eeden also handed over birthday gifts to Logan de Vaal, Warona Mmako, Kayleigh Naidoo, Zuri Masinga and Kgosietsile Kgaimane who had their birthdays during this week.

Involved in making it a fun and interesting experience for learners were Colonel Van Eeden from the Provincial Police Commissioner’s office; Krugersdorp Police communication officer and Social Crime Prevention coordinator; West Rand District K9; Johannesburg Police Water Wing; Johannesburg Police Mounted Unit in collaboration with Emergency Control South Africa; Gauteng Traffic Police; Gauteng Emergency Medical Services; West Rand District Emergency Services; Emergency Services Chaplain; Dowry Security; EPR Security; Bidvest Protea Coin Security; FosterTech Security; ADT Fidelity Security, Community Policing Forums; and AfriForum.
