Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said the man had sustained head injuries but no information was available at the time that could lead to the arrest of his murderers.
The Kagiso Police then opened a case of murder which was later allocated to Sergeant Maleba from the Kagiso Serious and Violent Crimes Unit to investigate.

“Sergeant Maleba activated his informers in the area who within a short space of time brought forward information to the investigation officer. The information then led to the successful arrest of the four suspects. All were denied bail.
“Sergeant Maleba then managed to link all four suspects to the crime and the case was placed on the court roll where on April 4 this year, the Kagiso Regional Court found all four guilty. They were not only convicted of murder but for stealing cash that belonged to the deceased.”
Acting Kagiso Police Station Commander Colonel Peter Mabuso as well as management have applauded Sergeant Maleba for his dedicated efforts and excellent investigative skills.
