Shoplifters have a love for shoes – two arrested

There were four serious incidents reported by Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in just two days – two of them shoplifting, a business break-in and armed robbery.

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security released their latest crime report and revealed four serious incidents, two of which involved shoplifting, the third a business break-in and the fourth an armed robbery.

Mapogo’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen explained on June 14, the company was called out to a shop in Rustenburg Road, Krugersdorp West.

Two women entered the shop and attempted to steal two pairs of boots. Staff members noticed and the two suspects were arrested.”

Then on June 15 at 12:06 Llewellyn Botha, one of Mapogo’s armed reaction officers was called out to a shop in Rustenburg Road, Krugersdorp West for a shoplifting incident. A woman entered the shop and stole shoes to the value of R869. The staff noticed and pressed the panic button.

Botha arrested the woman while she was trying to flee by getting into a vehicle. She was handed over to the Krugersdorp Police.

At 01:02 that same day they were called out to a business break-in and theft incident in Commissioner Street. The thieves entered the property by forcing open an aluminum sliding door and stole a pressure washer, tools, and a car battery.

Later that day, at 18:11, they were also called to an armed robbery in Eekhoring Street in Rant-en-Dal. The report said that two women stopped their vehicle at the main gate of the house and told the owner they were interested in buying the property, which is for sale.

The women told the owner that the estate agent is on her way as well.”

The owner then opened the gate and the women drove inside. The owner then went inside with the women who were sitting in the lounge when an armed man showed up and ordered the owner to lie down on the floor.

“They tied up the owner and went on to ransack the house. They stole a cell phone, jewellery, vehicle keys, and remotes before fleeing the scene.”
