Four arrests in eight days for West Rand Flying Squad

Police made four arrests across the West Rand between March 20 and 28, including assault cases and the recovery of a hijacked vehicle.

The West Rand Flying Squad (WRFS) arrested four suspects in separate incidents across the district between March 20 and 28.

According to WRFS spokesperson Karen du Plessis, the arrests relate to cases ranging from assault to possession of a hijacked vehicle.

In Rietvallei on March 20, a suspect was arrested for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious damage to property. A complainant was allegedly stabbed, while a microwave and kitchen cupboards were damaged, with losses estimated at R2 500.

In a separate incident on March 25 at about 18:00, a suspect was arrested in AfriVillage, Randfontein, after being found in possession of a hijacked Ford Ranger valued at R150 000.

On March 26 at about 01:30, another suspect was arrested for common assault following an alleged attack on a family member.

The most recent arrest was made on March 28 after police traced a suspect linked to an alleged assault in which a complainant’s cellphone was also damaged. The suspect faces charges of common assault and malicious damage to property.
