Flying Squad arrests Tarlton burglar and recovers stolen vehicle

The West Rand Flying Squad arrested a suspect for attempting to burgle a business in Tarlton and later recovered a stolen vehicle in Kagiso after a high-speed chase.

The police’s West Rand Flying Squad (WRFS) made two arrests between July 23 and 24.

According to the WRFS spokesperson, Karen du Plessis, during the early hours of July 23, they arrested a suspect following a complaint of a business burglary in progress in Tarlton.

“The suspect was arrested at the premises and was in possession of a replica pistol and breaking equipment,” she said.

She said at about 14:30 on July 24, they received a lookout for suspects in a vehicle who were involved in the theft of a Toyota Fortuner in Noordheuwel.

“The suspects’ vehicle had a false registration number and was chased to Kagiso. Our members managed to recover the stolen vehicle; however, the suspect managed to escape,” she concluded.
