Some streets in Rant-en-Dal to go dark today

Technicians will upgrade electricity meters to smart systems in parts of Rant-en-Dal today, requiring a temporary power outage and access to property.

Residents of three streets in Rant-en-Dal should take note that a scheduled power interruption will occur until 17:00 today, May 13.

Mogale City Local Municipality communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu said the affected streets include Rietbok, Eekhoring and Renoster. This temporary outage is necessary to facilitate the replacement of analogue electricity meters with modern smart meters.

“During this process, technicians will require access to individual properties to connect a Customer Interface Unit to the new meter. This device allows residents to monitor their electricity usage more effectively.

If technicians are unable to access a property, they will leave a notice with contact information so that homeowners can arrange a follow-up appointment at a time that suits them,” she concluded.
