R563 towards Hekpoort closed as sinkhole worsens

Motorists are urged to avoid the R563 as a worsening sinkhole forces full road closure.

Mogale City Local Municipality is warning motorists to avoid the R563 in Oaktree, declaring the road unsafe for travel.

According to MCLM’s senior communications practitioner, Tendani Shavani, an unrepaired sinkhole along the route has continued to worsen over time, forcing the municipality to close the road until further notice.

Motorists are advised to make use of the following alternative routes:

From Magaliesburg to Krugersdorp/ Pretoria: Continue on the R24 and then join the N14
• Motorists using the R563 from Hekpoort to Krugersdorp/ Pretoria are advised to turn left onto the R400 (Broederstroom road) and continue to Pretoria, or turn right onto the R400 to connect with the R24, then the N14
