Residents urged to settle debt as new credit control campaign begins

Residents with overdue accounts must pay 50% upfront to have services reconnected.

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has launched its ‘Ra Tima’ campaign, aimed at intensifying credit control and debt collection.

MCLM assistant manager for media and PR, Refilwe Mahlangu, said the campaign aims to restore a culture of payment, improve revenue collection, and ensure financial stability for service delivery.

“Residents with outstanding municipal accounts whose services have been disconnected must pay 50% of the arrears and enter into a formal payment arrangement to settle the remaining balance over an agreed period. Residents whose services have been disconnected due to accounts being outstanding for over 60 days must visit municipal offices without delay to avoid prolonged service interruptions,” she explained.

She added that residents are encouraged to pay their municipal bills, as prompt payment directly contributes to reliable service delivery and the development of communities.
