R5m reservoir leak finally plugged in Dan Pienaarville

Households and businesses are encouraged to report any remaining disruptions following the repair work.

Mogale City Local Municipality has confirmed that the leaks at the Dan Pienaarville reservoir have been repaired.

Mogale’s head of communications Adrian Amod said the repairs affected water supply in Dan Pienaarville, Oaktree and Pinehaven.

A recent oversight visit from Deputy Minister Jack Bloom and ward councillor Aloysha Jooste led to the repair of a long-running leak at the reservoir after millions of litres of treated drinking water were lost over three years, resulting in a R5m water bill.

As progress is being assessed, water tankers will be provided at locations identified with ward councillors when needed.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank residents in the affected areas for their patience while the repairs were carried out,” Amod said.

He added that every effort would be made to minimise the impact on residents and businesses. Residents and businesses are encouraged to inform their ward councillors if their water supply remains affected.
