West Rand Health Department welcomes all at open day

The mental and physical health of the general public as well as issues affecting women, children, and the LGBTQ community were highlighted during an open day hosted at Krugersdorp Central Clinic.

The West Rand District Health Department hosted an open day at the Krugersdorp Central Clinic on Tuesday, April 4.

A few boards with good health lessons were on display.

The aim was not only to raise awareness regarding the mental and physical health of the general public but also to shine a light on the health issues affecting women, children, and the LGBTQ community.

Pamphlets were given to the visitors to learn more after they leave.
Bolele Mashile Orabile Mokeng and Valencia Ndlovu represent Gauteng Health.

The open day saw many stakeholders such as NACOSA, Environmental Health, and Access Chapter 2 Rights in Motion NGO support the cause by handing out pamphlets and answering health inquiries.

Dineo, Thapelo, Uaatjo, and Kgotso were all representing Environmental Health Services.

Efforts were also made to promote inclusivity and decrease discrimination in the health service environment, highlighting the issue of HIV stigma and discrimination against LGBTQ people. The public would also be served with medical advice and souvenirs to take home with them.
