A young lady with charitable ambitions
A Grade 10 learner from Trinityhouse Little Falls proves that you are never too young to make a difference.
Refiloe Mohlabi, a Grade 10 learner from Trinityhouse Little Falls, like many other youngsters have goals and ambitions.
While some have the desire to become the next talented singer, others opt to obtain a degree in teaching, but Refiloe has chosen to make a difference and sells bracelets to raise funds that she can donate to charity.

Her school has an annual charity drive called Debutants and Squires and every year, learners volunteer in the charity with their unique ideas of raising funds. She will be selling bracelets she made herself and hopes to make an impact with the earnings. The school will then donate to non-profit organisations such as The Cradle of Hope which will use the funds raised by the learners to build playgrounds for underprivileged schools, and provide free meals and clothing for less fortunate children.

“We have been partnering with Trinityhouse Little Falls for years and we hope to continue to build one another from strength to strength,” says Candice Ellison, general manager of Cradle Of Hope.
Refiloe added that making bracelets was passed down to her by her grandmother, so her cause has a more personal touch. She has sold many bracelets to her friends and peers and says that she has learned valuable lessons in her cause so far.
“This experience has taught me about independence, entrepreneurship, decision-making, and creativity. After all the funds have been raised, I want to continue to make a difference while balancing my school work and learning more,” Refiloe said.
Refiloe will need as much help as possible in her quest to make a difference, you can be sure to find her at Ngwenya Glass Village Market on Sunday 4 June where she will be in her stall selling her items.
