Physically and mentally challenged mothers spoiled

Not only do they raise us, but also teach us to become better people as we grow older.

The Kagiso Disability Centre showed some gratitude by welcoming community members and their disabled mothers to their Mother’s Day programme, on Sunday, May 13.

Jan Lethoko, the organisation’s founder, was pleased that the community came to the centre, not only to honour their mothers, but also to support them in making the event possible by different gifts of money, clothes, and food parcels before the event.

The purpose of the event was to show appreciation to mothers who are physically and mentally challenged. I am happy with the reception we had and hope it gets better in future,” Jan said.

There was also a programme which saw the members and mothers participate in an arts and craft session where necklaces and beads were made together with crochet goods.

The special guest at the event was former ward councillor Lerato Modise who over the years has worked closely with the organisation assisting them in fundraisers and programmes to assist the mothers and their families.

Mothers are caring in their nature and we need to take care of them. They are the backbone of the family regardless of their physical and mental challenges.

Many families of the mothers at the event were filled with joy as they got to see their mothers being spoiled.
