Bikers, community have a jol for charity
Mega Force Motorcycle Club West Rand held a day jol all in the name of fun and charity at Harlequins Rugby Club recently.
Mega Force Motorcycle Club’s (MC) West Rand charter recently held their first day jol for the year and their Wild West theme not only went down well with those who attended, but they also managed to raise some funds for charity.
Valma Buitendacht from the MC explained that on Saturday, May 6 they held their first day jol at Harlequins Rugby Club in Krugersdorp.
We were blessed with sunny weather and roaring bikes coming through the streets of Krugersdorp. Bikers were excited and there was lots of chatting, hugging and greeting among old friends. New friendships were also made.”
There were lots of games and entertainment for the children and even the grown-ups. She added that Mega Force MC is very family-orientated so they wanted to make it a fun day for young and old. Games for bikers included tyre throw, best burn out, a mechanical bull, beer drinking and lasso throw.

They also had a money box where you bought a box for R50 and the winning box had a R500 prize. For the kids, there was a jumping castle and train rides among others. Local artist KLC also entertained the visitors while Willie Nel kept the vibe going throughout the day.

“There were awesome prizes to be won and auctioned. Mega Force members from as far as the South Coast sent messages congratulating the club with the great prizes.”
Liam Anthony from Dance Palace and his Angels (members of the MC) entertained the masses with their line dancing. This was followed by the Mr, Miss and Mrs Wild West pageant hosted by Valma and was held to benefit Matla A Bana.
We had the best in the West! Armand du Plessis, Liam van Vuuren, Elmarie Nolte, Anche Steyn and Bianca Rautenbach were the judges,” Valma said.

She added that while everyone had a jol, the MC wanted it to be a meaningful day. There was even a Cansa Shavathon to take part in and Valma sponsored patches to be sold to help raise funds.
Anche, from Matla A Bana, also donated a teddy bear which was raffled and all proceeds went to the organisation. The MC also made donations towards comfort packs that will be delivered to the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court.
The community of Krugersdorp will be seeing a lot more of these biker clubs as Mega Force MC West Rand is committed to reaching out to the underprivileged community – especially to our children.
“The aim of the first day jol was not to make buckets of money, but to create awareness among the community that not all bikers are bad,” said Riaan Smith, the club’s president on the West Rand.
He and vice president Wayne van Winkel wanted to thank the community and other clubs for their support and for sharing in the fun.
