Military veterans reach out to the vulnerable

The South African Infantry Association recently held a golf day for a good cause.

Once upon a time, they were a bunch of devoted troops serving their nation. Today, while they may not receive the same adrenaline rush as they did during wartime, they nevertheless play an important role in their society.

On June 23, the South African Infantry Association held a golf day to raise funds for disadvantaged members of society.

According to veteran Charles Steyn, the golf day was just one of many projects they usually embark on and they work closely with various NGOs including The Cradle of Hope, the Teddy Bear Clinic, and The Bethany House Trust.

He added that all the funds raised on the day will be used to buy blankets, clothes and food.

The association is a military veterans association that promotes pride, honour, dignity, and unfailing camaraderie among association members and veterans who have served the country and identify, record, and promote the unique infantry tradition and cultural characteristics of its members.
