PICS: Let it snow, let it snow in K’dorp …
Send us your images of the early-morning snowflake excitement.
Residents in Krugersdorp woke up this morning (Monday, July 10) to icy weather. The only warm feeling, however, was the sight of what seemed to be snowflakes.
In Viljoen Street, a resident was quick to send the Krugersdorp News some images of how parts of a water fountain were frozen.
We are encouraging residents to send us your images of the early-morning snowflakes to krugersdorpnews@caxton.co.za.

The South African Weather Service (Saws) last week warned of a cold, wet and windy end of the weekend.
“A cold front, currently situated to the south-west of South Africa made landfall in the Western Cape on Friday evening. This front resulted in showers and rain from Friday afternoon in the southwestern parts of the Western Cape, spreading to the Northern and Eastern Cape on Saturday, and reaching the eastern parts of both KZN and Mpumalanga by Sunday. A significant drop in temperature is expected over the extreme western parts of the country, spreading eastwards. These cold to very cold temperatures reached the eastern parts of the country by Sunday. Along with the drop in temperatures, is the possibility of snowfall in the high-lying areas over southern Namakwa and the interior of the Western Cape, spreading to the mountains in the Eastern Cape and southern Drakensberg by Monday. Disruptive snowfall is possible in places.”
Saws will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates where needed. The public is urged and encouraged to regularly follow weather forecasts on television, radio as well as social media platforms. Updated information in this regard will regularly be available at www.weathersa.co.za as well as via the SA Weather Service Twitter account @SAWeatherServic.
