It’s so fresh and clean at Môreglans!
Môreglans Old Age Home opened a new and upgraded laundry room thanks to private donors from various organisations and members of the community.
Many frail care services and centres cater to many elders in the community. However, it takes a lot of tender, loving care and some special people to ensure they are well taken care of.
To ensure elders get the best services, Môreglans Old Age Home recently opened a new and upgraded laundry room.
The home previously had a laundry room but more space and washing machines were required to accommodate over 100 elders who live there.

According to the manager of the home, Susan Bezuidenhout, the project was made possible thanks to private donors from various organisations and members of the community contributing to their cause.
The home was founded on the initiative of Georgiana Solomon (a Scottish woman) in Pretoria on 19 October 1904 at the home of Annie Botha, wife of General Louis Botha. This occasion was attended by a group of women deeply concerned about the dire circumstances prevailing after the Anglo-Boer War.
The first SAVF (Suid-Afrikaanse Vrouefederasie) Old Age Home, Môreglans, opened its doors on June 16, 1910, in Krugersdorp with four residents.

Over the years, more SAVF Old Age Homes were opened in various provinces across the country.
Many volunteers, supporters and staff made sure to be present and enjoy the opening of the laundry room which will help many of the elders and staff to ensure that elders will get the best services. In addition to the refurbishment of the laundry, the home also received two brand new washing machines which will allow the staff to be faster in ensuring that residents will clothes with fresh clothes.
Maria Sehwana, who is the Reef Caterers manager at Môreglans, described the project as a success and a step in the right direction which will ensure that everything runs smoothly.
“We cater to over 100 elders here who need to be attended urgently. With brand new machines and a bigger room to work with we can work faster and provide the best care to our elders,” Susan concluded.
