New Rotary Interact Club members inducted

The Krugersdorp Rotary Club held an induction ceremony to welcome new members of its Interact Club, who most hail from KHS.

The Krugersdorp Rotary Club held a ceremony on Tuesday evening, November 5 to welcome the new members of the Rotary Interact Club who were mainly learners from Krugersdorp High School (KHS).

The new members will be giving their time to service and better the community.

According to Monument Rotary Club president Jeanne Moreland, the club currently has seven executive officers and another 15 to 18 committee members all comprising of Grade 11 learners at KHS. In total, the Rotary Interact Club has about 100 kids.

”Monument Rotary Club is the sponsoring club. We are there to mentor them in their roles as executive officers and mentor them in their projects to ensure they align with Rotary International. We can ask them to help us with some of our events or we can help sponsor their projects,” said Jeanne.

She added Interact clubs bring together young people aged 12 to 18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.

According to Jeanne, the benefits of young people joining clubs include:

• Taking action to make a difference their your school or community
• Discovering new cultures and promoting international understanding
• Becoming a leader in their school or community
• Having fun and making new friends from around the world
