Disaster narrowly avoided after truck crashes at Pinehaven intersection: One injured

One person was injured after a truck crashed into two vehicles, which then collided with another truck at the Pinehaven intersection early this morning.

At around 05:55 this morning, March 26, yet another crash occurred at the infamous Pinehaven intersection.

West Rand Emergency Services Regional Commander Gerhard Nieuwoudt said an incident report revealed that a truck’s brakes had failed. He further explained that this truck then crashed into two light motor vehicles, which then collided with another truck.

The two light motor vehicles were stationary, and after the initial collision, the two vehicles collided with a truck crossing the intersection, leaving one passenger with minor injuries.”

He added all necessary services, including the fire department, Public Safety, provincial traffic officials and ambulances were there in minutes, and took the patient to hospital.

He concluded they faced the challenge of busy traffic; luckily, there were no fatalities.
