Help sponsor a learner’s swim journey

The West Rand School's swimming programme needs the community to sponsor learners.

After the West Rand School and K-swim academy joined hands to renovate the school’s pool to enable teaching learners how to swim, which could be life-saving, they still need help.

Swimming instructor Karien Botha said that since they started the project, the learners showed a keen interest.

“This programme also includes a muscle development, which the learners always look forward to,” she explained.

Despite the children enjoying it so much, they do face a challenge with diapers for the learners.

It costs around R250 per child for an eight-week course, however, it is simply not in the school’s budget to sponsor 123 learners’ diapers for them to swim,” she explained.

A total of 20 learners have all ready been sponsored and can continue the programme the remainder of the year to ensure that they build muscle memory and confidence when they get near water, however, Karien is humbly asking the community to help the rest of the learners.

If you want to sponsor a learner at the cost of R250 each, contact Karien on 082 964 2125. A section 18a tax benefit is available.
