Partnership brings safer, cleaner police station

Ward 20 teams up with AfriForum volunteers to clean and improve the Krugersdorp Police Station's grounds.

AfriForum recently collaborated with Mogale City’s Ward 20 to clean up the Krugersdorp Police Station.

According to councillor Mark Trump, one of the key priorities is supporting the South African Police Service while ensuring the community thrives, recognising the importance of a well-maintained and welcoming police station.

He said community initiatives in the area focus on safety, environmental care and local government involvement, driven by a “we will do it ourselves” philosophy.

For Trump, key projects include establishing and training neighbourhood and farm watches, creating private emergency support services such as a firefighting unit, and conducting community improvement projects like cleaning public areas, repairing infrastructure, and establishing community gardens. There are also initiatives supporting heritage, culture, youth development and intercultural co-operation.

“I reached out to the local community organisation, whose commitment to service is well established, to partner with Krugersdorp SAPS in restoring and maintaining the station grounds. I extend my sincere gratitude for their swift and generous response. Their dedication to making a tangible difference in our community is deeply appreciated,” Trump added.

He said this initiative aims to create an improved working environment for police officers and a more accessible, pleasant space for residents.

“Collaborative efforts like these demonstrate the power of community partnership in building safer, stronger neighbourhoods for everyone.”
