Five people hospitalised following carbon monoxide exposure in Monument

Emergency services rushed five people to hospital after suspected carbon monoxide exposure at a shopping centre in Monument.

Emergency services responded swiftly after five individuals collapsed following suspected carbon monoxide exposure at a shopping centre in Monument.

According to CPF Cluster Chairman John Boreham, a shop at Anthos Centre was reportedly generating electricity using petrol in the basement during a power outage earlier today. This allegedly caused a build-up of carbon monoxide fumes inside the centre.

Five people were taken to hospital at about 13:00 on Friday, 30 January, after inhaling the fumes.

All medical services responded to the scene, along with police, the CPF and private security, to assist the affected individuals and secure the area.
