Young speakers inspire at Alma Mater

Alma Mater learners showcase remarkable courage, preparation and talent in the 2026 Speech and Drama College programme.

The Alma Mater International School community is beaming with pride as they celebrate the outstanding participation and achievements of their public speakers in the 2026 Speech and Drama College programme.

This year’s involvement showcased not only exceptional talent, but also remarkable courage, preparation and dedication.

According to public speaking coach Melissa Nieuwoudt, the learners stepped onto the stage with confidence and enthusiasm, with many participating in formal public speaking for the very first time.

“Their poise and determination set an inspiring foundation for the years ahead. The groups demonstrated tremendous growth and maturity in their delivery, with speeches reflecting critical thinking, creativity and authenticity,” she said.

“Our speakers truly embodied leadership and excellence. They delivered powerful, thought-provoking speeches with clarity and understanding. Their performances not only impressed adjudicators but also inspired the younger grades. We are incredibly proud of them, and we are looking forward to next year,” Melissa said.

Grade Seven speakers showcased their confidence and enthusiasm, many of whom were experiencing formal public speaking for the first time. The Grade Eight group demonstrated significant growth and maturity in their delivery, with speeches highlighting critical thinking, creativity and authenticity.
