Easter bunny brings joy to young and old in Sector 4

A convoy of kindness delivered 413 hampers to children, the elderly and vulnerable residents across Sector 4.

The Krugersdorp CPF Sector 4 took a different approach to its annual Easter drive this year, focusing on spreading kindness and building meaningful community relationships.

According to sector patroller co-ordinator Abrie Verreynne, Easter eggs were handed out to children along a route through Wentworth Park, Monument and Noordheuwel.

“We joined forces with numerous organisations, including the police, fire department, private security companies and a church youth leader, who opened the event with a prayer. A dance group and community members also participated to help make a positive and meaningful difference in Sector 4,” he said.

The CPF chairperson led the convoy in a bakkie loaded with 413 Easter hampers, while Verreynne led a convoy of 14 vehicles to various stops, including residential areas, an old-age home, an orphanage, and a shelter for women and children.

Verreynne said the dance group performed at Golden Age Village, Wings of Inspiration and Bethany House, bringing joy to residents.

He added that in Monument, the convoy stopped at Absolute Care Centre, home to eight elderly residents, where the Easter bunny personally handed out hampers. The group then continued to Bethany House, where 80 children were waiting.

“Once the dance group started performing, the children eagerly joined in. The joy and gratitude on their faces cannot be described in words and touched the hearts of everyone present,” he said.

The drive concluded in Noordheuwel about five and a half hours after it began in Wentworth Park. Feedback from the community highlighted the impact of collaboration in uplifting residents and strengthening relationships.

“It was excellent teamwork that brought smiles to many faces and joy to the hearts of the children in our community,” he concluded.
