Dogs, tricks and fun at Millies

More than 100 Millies learners were treated to a fun-filled day of dogs, tricks, and valuable lessons about caring for pets.

Man’s best friend paid a visit to Laerskool Millennium Primary School for a day filled with fun and laughter during a special dog show.

The event took place on May 15 for the school’s Bush Bugs learners, an extra-curricular activity where learners are given the opportunity to learn more about nature while also participating in various arts and crafts activities.

Teacher and Bush Bugs organiser Christa Coertzen explained that the event formed part of the group’s Bush Bugs dog show programme, during which learners watched a dog show presented at the school.

Learners had the opportunity to learn about different dog breeds, how dogs can be trained to perform tricks, and how they are taught to follow commands. The learners were also able to interact with the dogs and were taught how to care for their own pets, as well as how to react safely when approached by a dog.

A total of 105 Grade One to Three learners form part of the Bush Bugs programme.

“The learners were amazed by the talent and learning abilities that dogs have,” she concluded.
