Rich versus wealth

I am not the richest man in my town but I feel that I am, by God’s grace, the wealthiest man on earth.

• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:

I presumed that rich people were wealthy and that wealthy people were rich. To my surprise, that is not the truth. There is a difference between being rich and being wealthy. Here is a definition of a wealthy person: “A wealthy person will always be wealthy, but a rich person will only be rich as long as they have money”.

Think about it for a moment. Do you know people who have a lot of money, yet in a sense they are poor, or do you know others that only have the basics and yet they are wealthy?

Maybe it is time to be honest. You may not be rich but you may be wealthy.

But what is wealth? Wealth consists of more than rands and cents. Most of true wealth cannot be bought with money. Today I dedicate this article to all the people who have shown me that wealth is more than money in the bank. True wealth is worth more than great riches. Proverbs 22:1, “A good name is worth more than apples of gold”.

As you look at your own life, realise today that you are wealthy.

I am not the richest man in my town but I feel that I am, by God’s grace, the wealthiest man on earth. You are wealthier than you think.
