Tough, muddy but fun at Warrior Race
The Sportcon Strenght & Conditioning Centre sent 35 warriors to the Warrior Race held at the Heia Safari Ranch in Muldersdrift.
Altogether 35 Sportcon-warriors participated in the Warrior Race, which was recently held at the Heia Safari Ranch in Muldersdrift.
Stian Weideman, owner and a fitness coach of the Sportcon Strength & Conditioning Centre said it was probably his most proudest moment.
“It was the first time in the seven years since I open my gym that I was able to send so many warriors to participate and they had so much fun!”
He said, although it is as much fun as it is also very competitive, he could se how much support each of his members received.
“They have helped each other during all the different obstacles.”
Out of the 35 warriors 31 participated in the rookie section which comprises 15 different obstacles on a 5km course where they, amongst others, crawled through mudpits, climbed a wall of about 3 meters and jump over fire.
Four participated in the more competitive section for the brave and the fit known as the Black-ops which had 30 obstacles over a 16km course.
These obstacles ranged from insane body twisters, rope climbs, log flipping, sand bag carrying, muddy barbed wire crawls, jumping from high towers, larger than life mud pits, climbing over walls, jumping over fire, climbing over high nets and many more.
Stian said the team is hooked and can’t wait for the next Warrior Race.
“They have practically begged me to enter them again,” he laughed.
He is extremely chuffed about the fact that his rookie team pocketed the first three places. His Elite Black-ops competitors and brother pair Ben and Marius de Villiers have respectively taken the 18th and 19th positions.
“This Warrior Race was definitely not an easy one with temperatures rising up to about 35 degrees Celsius,” Stian concluded.
