Khosa scores this season

The blood, sweat and tears paid off for these upcoming club rugby players.

Khosa Rugby Club has ended a year of hard work, good rugby and excellent sporting achievements.

All the blood, sweat and tears paid off as a total of 17 club players managed to achieve district colours for their respective regions this past rugby season.

Andile Mkhontwana, Morne Barnard, Toitjie du Toit, Joshua Smith, Bertie Venter, Ronan Harmann, Dihan Olivier and Wian Botes boasts with district colours for under 12 Gauteng-West, while Tiaan Fourie and Neil Barnard received colours for under 12 Central-West.

The players who received colors for the under 11 Central-West included Brenton Branco, Michael Fouchè, Divan Kruger, Brendon Venter, Ryno Giezing, Heinrich Jacobs and Jordan Jansen van Rensburg.

John Smith, chairperson of Khosa’s Western Cubs Junior Rugby, believes that each player should be equipped to the fullest to provide players with the opportunity to give his best. This is the right foundation and with the help of a highly qualified coaching team in place, players can achieve this goal at Khosa.

“Win or lose, this foundation will provide our players with the physical and emotional intelligence to deal with both.”

The clubs other successes include three players, Michael Payne – under 13, Reuben Barnard – under 14 and Humphries Durandt – under 16 who was selected to represent the Lions Rooibokke team at the Inter Provincial Tournament this year.

The under 12 players, Wian Botes, Tiaan Fourie, Bertie Venter, Toitjie du Toit, Joshua Smith, Neil Barnard en Andile Mkhontwana also represented the Golden Loins Rugby Union at the Inter Provincial Rugby tournament this past school holiday.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents for their commitment towards Khosa Western Cubs Junior Rugby Club this year,” John said.
