Bowling: a sport for everyone
“Bowling is for all ages, all genders, disabled persons, blind persons ... literally anyone.”
The Krugersdorp Bowling Club hosted their annual Gold Rush Tournament during the weekend of 5 and 6 November.
The tournament first started in 1977 and has been a yearly institution. The club consists of 144 players that represent nine clubs in the Sables Association district.
“Anyone can join the club,” said the club’s vice-president, Andy Selby.
The tournament began on Saturday, with all the teams playing four games. The competition is always tough, but the players enjoy themselves a lot.

The players who played during the weekend ranged in age from 25 to 92 years.
“Bowling is for all ages, all genders, disabled persons, blind persons … literally anyone,” Andy said.
The club is open seven days a week and any player, potential player or visitor is welcome to visit it. Players do not have to be athletic and can be at any fitness level.
The Krugersdorp club boasts with three adult and one junior Springbok players.
The winner of the league was Susan Nel from Rustenburg, with Mervin Lynn as the runner-up.
