Showjumping for breast cancer awareness
This year it was decided to make it a charitable event.
Krugersdorp sports-lovers will once again see their equestrian heroes in action in this year’s series of FEI World Cup Showjumping Qualifiers.
The final leg in the series will be held at the immaculate Maple Ridge Farm in Oaktree from 25 to 29 October and promises a spectacle of showjumping from the top riders around the country.
The FEI World Cup is a series of international showjumping events hosted by 15 leagues, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South East and Central Asia, China, North and South America, South Africa, the Middle East, Caucasia and Central and Western Europe.
Riders accumulate points over a 12-month period and stand a chance to compete in the ultimate final, the Longines FEI World Cup Final, where they can walk off with the title of ‘World’s Greatest Showjumper’.
A total of 108 qualifying events were hosted during the 2016/ 17 season, and 18 nations and 38 athletes competed in the final held in Omaha, USA.
Hosted by Verity Combrink and her team, this is one of only a handful of international showjumping competitions situated in the beautiful Cradle of Humankind.
This year it was decided to make it a charitable event, so they incorporated Breast Cancer Awareness into their theme as the World Cup takes place in October.
They are delighted to include Cansa as their nominated charity and hope to raise funds throughout the show and at their fundraising evening on Friday, 27 October.
The fundraising evening will be hosted at Usambara Venue and Lodge in Muldersdrift. Top entertainment by Howie Combrink, Amore Vitone and Ashlinn Grey, and a lavish meal and auction of some very specials items are on the menu.
Tickets for this event can be booked with Verity by emailing mapleridge@telkomsa.net.
Tables costs R6 600 for a table of 12; single tickets are R600.
