Every year a bodybuilding competition is hosted in benefit of Ikusasa Child, Youth and Community Development Centre, which caters for children and orphans living and working on the streets.
On Saturday, 30 September, the Mr and Miss West Rand Classic Bodies Charity Competition was held at the Krugersdorp City Hall and saw a total of about 30 athletes bend, flex, stretch and strike their best poses for children in need of protection.

This competition has not only become an annual benchmark of social cohesion and upliftment for children in need of protection and care – it also serves as a talent identification process.
This year’s event was sanctioned by Body Building South Africa and the International Federation of Body Building (IFBB), which is the only bodybuilding federation recognised by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, giving the athletes the opportunity to qualify for the prestige Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Africa Competition 2018.

According to Donald Nyirenda, CEO of the Ikusasa Foundation, athletes from as far afield as Mafikeng, Bloemfontein, Pretoria and Soweto made their way to this competition to show off their muscles.
This fast-growing competition includes categories for bodybuilding, physique and fitness, among others. It also attracts hundreds of athletes, spectators, celebrities, media and high-profile government officials who come together under one umbrella with the same aim.
