Primary schools battle it out in netball’s Best of the West

This year's Best of the West netball tournament at Krugersdorp High School was the largest and most exciting of its kind to date.

A massive primary school netball tournament was held later in February at the Krugersdorp High School (KHS), with 119 schools from in and around Gauteng participating.

This sports day took up most of the two days and filled the school’s 13 netball courts. Crowds of teachers, parents and players not currently in a game packed the sidelines, energetically screaming out their support for their teams. It was very clear that no one there that day took the sport lightly. The girls played their hearts out and everything was left on the court.

The U/14s from the West Rand tested their skills against some of the best teams in the province, and finally proved that they’re definitely not to be trifled with on the court.

The tournament was held in a round-robin format, with each team getting the opportunity to play against all the other teams, although this meant that no team was crowned victor at the end of the day.
