The PUMA School of Speed Series will be hosting five action-packed meets for track and field stars to showcase their athletic talents.

Headed by the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, the PUMA School of Speed Series was launched in 2016 with the goal of identifying exceptional young South African athletes who believe that their future is #ForeverFaster.

“The PUMA School of Speed’s goal is to identify South Africa’s exceptional talent,” Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports said.

“The meets are fast-paced and action-packed from start to finish. As part of the fifth year celebrations we are excited to welcome the University of Mpumalanga (Mbombela/ Nelspruit) as a new venue in 2020.”

Ruimsig Stadium will be the place to be on 25 January, and boys and girls aged 15 to under 19 in various track and field disciplines are invited to try out. Entrance is free for the athletes, but spectators will pay R20 per adult and R10 per child.

“We are proud to be able to give future stars a platform to compete against SA’s best, while further perfecting their skills. We are very excited to welcome back Gena Löfstrand as the Vice Principal of the PUMA School of Speed in 2020. Gena has been a remarkable brand ambassador. We look forward to working alongside her for another season,” PUMA Marketing Director, Brett Bellinge said.

Miandi van Staden (Potchefstroom Gimnasium/ North West province), loves the atmosphere at the PUMA School of Speed meetings.

“I am proud and honoured to represent PUMA. It’s a great brand and I love wearing it. My focus is on 100m and 200m. My goal for 2020 is to represent South Africa at the World Athletics U/20 Championships.”

According to Dalan Oliphant (Wesvalia High School/ Klerksdorp), the PUMA School of Speed is a great platform for any athlete to be able to compete against the best in South Africa.

“My focus will be on the 100m and 200m. My goal is to become the U/17 SA Champion in both these events while I am still U/16.”
