Clean sweep for KBC at Sables Masters
Krugersdorp Bowling Club once again proved they are a force to reckon with after dominating the leaderboard at the Sables Masters Tournament.
It was a proud moment for the Krugersdorp Bowling Club (KBC) when their players had a clean sweep at the recent Sables Masters Tournament.
The men’s and ladies’ opens and finals were hosted at Leases Bowling Club in Roodepoort on August 6 while the invitationals were held at KBC the week before.
During this prestige tournament, KBC took eight medals in total. They entered two sections and won gold, silver, and bronze in both the men’s invitational and men’s veterans category. KBC also took bronze in the ladies’ invitational and lady’s veterans category.
In each of these four categories, 12 players were selected by the district committee and invited to participate. The men’s and ladies’ winners at the invitationals then go into the open draw.

Men’s Invitational
• Strich Economakis – gold
• Johan Serfontein – silver
• Loukie de Jager – bronze
Ladies Invitational
• Welma de Jager – bronze
Men’s Veterans
• Andy Selby – gold
• Robbie Piketh – silver
• Freddy Goodes – bronze
Ladies Veterans
• Maureen Love – bronze
Proud president of KBC, Trevor Leader said, “It is a fantastic and respected achievement for all the players. It shows that KBC has playing strength as well as supporting strength. It was commented that the unbiased support shown by KBC supporters was amazing. Club spirit is one of the main ingredients and together with good leadership it leads to a happy club.”
