KHS learner paving his way to national rugby greatness

Logan Adams has been selected to represent the Golden Lion High School team at the national sevens tournament in the Free State.

Rugby talent and resilience shine as Logan Adams, a Krugersdorp High School (KHS) learner, was selected to play for the Golden Lions High School Sevens Rugby team.

He will be showcasing his talent on September 27 in the nationals sevens tournament, intending to fly the Krugersdorp and West Rand flags as high as possible. In recent years, KHS has been known for producing talented young athletes and the Grade 11 learner is the latest from the school to reach new heights in the sport. He started playing rugby in pre-primary school at the age of three as an extra-mural activity and has since achieved so much.

In November 2023, Logan went on a rugby tour to Spain to play for the South African Barbarians and described it as a challenging time. Despite the challenge, he still has his eyes fixed on the prize and hopes to achieve greatness.

The tournament, in Bethlehem in the Free State, will host the best high school rugby players. The age groups involved start from U14 boys to U19s. The tournament allows boys from all over the country to not only showcase their talent but also for scouts of various rugby franchises to add to their teams in developing future Springboks.

Logan’s ultimate goal is to represent his country as a Springbok. In addition to his recent milestone, he was capped twice for the Gauteng Lions invitational team and was selected to play in the West Rand Sonchini team in 2022. From there he was chosen to travel to Italy as part of the Gauteng team in the Tricolour Games with the Department of Education.

“Achieving my Gauteng provincial colours and being awarded best forward player of the year was great,” he adds.

Last year he also completed a SAQA-accredited national certificate in Sports Management, a Level 1 World Rugby Coaching certificate and a Boksmart certificate meaning he will be equipped and trained in a high-performance setup according to the high demands of being a successful professional rugby player abroad.
