This comes after the news that Noordheuwel Country Club will be home to Padel@Krugersdorp, a new facility which is open to Krugersdorpers interested in some fun and action sports on the court.
According to the co-owner of Padel@Krugersdorp, Landi Hoeksma, padel is a mix of squash and tennis. It is played on a smaller court with a Styrofoam Padel that has small holes.
Padel is a racket sport, and it has the same scoring system as tennis. It is mainly played in doubles, and the court is a smaller enclosed court with a glass and steel mesh structure where players can use the glass as an advantage.
“The serve in padel is underarm, not above waist height. It is a lot of fun for all ages, and it is very easy to pick up. A lot of new players can pick up the basics in the first 30 minutes of play.”

Landi added that the facility was created as a space for the community to enjoy and socialise with each other.
“After lockdown, we feel people never really got back to their normal lives. We wanted to create a space where people can be outside, get fresh air, get fit and have fun. We have a great location with a stunning view, so this is where you can come and clear your head after a long day or start your day with a lot of fun.
We have been open for a few weeks now and have had about 100 people who have played already. We have received a lot of positive feedback and have some regulars already,” Landi said.
For people who are interested in playing can book on Playtomic or they can call directly on 082 547 7380 and they will be booked for them to play.
